"Great app for managing large video libraries and projects I've been able to catalog and manage thousands of videos from the past 15 years easily and quickly. Keywording is simple and search results based on keywords appear quickly with a click after typing. The UI is a bit clunky, but it's not difficult to learn - and you can customize it once you figure out your workflow. You can setup up to 8 differently workflow layouts and easily switch between. I would like to see a personal media option alongside the Actors db so I can input more information about people and places in my personal videos. But, an incredible value for a tool I've been looking for for a long time."

FVC is our chosen software because of its ability to catalog any number of videos across our storage system and presents information in such a way that any of our crew can quickly find and assess a video clip for use in any production. If you have to manage a reasonable collection of videos on Windows, there simply is no better or even comparable piece of software. "We've been using Fast Video Cataloger for a couple of years now and it's proved an extremely useful tool, particularly for quickly locating B roll shots from multiple terabytes of camera files. It's fantastic when you only have a vague idea where the shot you're looking for is located. You can visually scan really large quantities of material very quickly. It doesn't replace detailed logging in bins in our Avid Media Composer system, but is a great way to quickly narrow down a search to then go to the right Avid project and detailed bin. We have one catalog with over 20,000 files in it and searching that with keywords and filters is pretty well instantaneous. The other major plus of this program is the customer service. It's incredible that you can communicate directly with Fredrik, the developer of the program, and that he responds extremely quickly. Highly recommended."

"I have thousands of videos that I accumulated over the past 5 years. My intention was to use clips from the videos to document significant political and cultural events and trends. As I was collecting videos I was learning to use Blackmagic Resolve 17. I became overwhelmed trying to locate and extract clips based on actors, scenes, topics, etc.. FVC 8 has many powerful features that is helping me gain control of my large library. The search features are excellent and allow you to locate any actor, scene, topic, etc. right down to the beginning frames. There is also a feature that I've yet to explore, which lets you organize clips into virtual folders called bins. As I understand it, you can then export info from the bins that will instruct Resolve (and others editors) to import the clips for editing. I'm all in on this software."
